Support the Wyandot County Imagination Library through the Buy-A-Book Campaign

The Wyandot County Imagination Library’s debut year resulted in massive success, but the work of continuing literacy in the county is not done. That’s why the program is launching its Buy-A-Book Campaign.

Since its debut in May 2020, the Wyandot County Imagination Library program has enrolled 574 children and graduated 103 children. In partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, each child enrolled in the program, from birth to age 5, were mailed a new book every month at no cost to the family. As the enrollment numbers continue to rise, however, the cost of the local program also increases. Every $1.05 raised provides a new book to a child while also being matched dollar-for-dollar by the Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library.

The Wyandot County Imagination Library is asking for the community’s support with the Buy-A-Book Campaign to continue making a real difference in the lives of local children. Donations to the local Imagination Library program can be made at Upper Sandusky Community Library, Dorcas Carey Public Library, or at one of these local businesses: A&A Grocery, Bertie’s Downtown, Cheers 2 U, East of Chicago, Glazed Over, Pfeifer Hardware, and Premier Bank. Checks can also be sent care of the Wyandot County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 364, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351. If your business would like to participate in gathering donations, contact your local library.

Parents can register their children for the Wyandot County Imagination Library at ohioimaginationlibrary.org.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library launched in 1995 with the goal to provide personalized, age-appropriate books each month to children in her home county in East Tennessee. Since then, it has expanded nationally and internationally, registered over 1.8 million children, and gifted over 165 million books.

The Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library was founded in 2019 with financial support from the Ohio General Assembly and other affiliates. Though initially available in only a few counties, it became a statewide program in November 2020.
