Common Readers will be reading “The 1619 Project: A New Origin Story” by Nikole Hannah-Jones in February.

“The 1619 Project” expands on the original "1619 Project” featured in The New York Times Magazine, “weaving together 18 essays that explore the legacy of slavery in present-day America with 36 poems and works of fiction that illuminate key moments of oppression, struggle, and resistance.”

The discussion will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21 in the library’s large meeting room. Copies of the book are available upon request at the library’s front desk. It is also available as an ebook and digital audiobook on Libby.
