Get your family outside to stretch their legs, read a book, and solve a puzzle with Coded StoryWalk®.

The book for November is The Best Thanksgiving Ever by Teddy Slater, illustrated by Ethan Long. “A sweet story about the importance of family, being thankful, and love--as told by a family of turkeys, with a hilarious surprise at the end! It's late in November, the blue sky is clear, and Thanksgiving Day is finally here. So many hugs and so many kisses. So many 'Happy Thanksgiving' wishes. A family gathers to celebrate all that they're grateful for. But wait, there's a twist! This funny, rhyming read-aloud story features turkeys who celebrate Thanksgiving! The Turkey clan arrives from all over the world, excited for their annual feast. But what will they eat? It turns out everyone is thankful . . . for Thanksgiving corn!”

Before you begin your walk, stop by the library’s front desk and pick up a Coded Tales worksheet. As you walk from business to business, each page will be marked with a letter that should be written on the worksheet. When you finish the story, you will have spelled out a special message that you can return to the library to receive a special prize.

The Coded StoryWalk® begins at the Upper Sandusky Community Library and continues in the windows of the following businesses: A Cut Above, Corner Inn, SURGE, Neumeister’s Candy Shoppe, Fay Family Dental Care, A.J.’s Heavenly Pizza, Johnson Orthodontics, The Barber Shop, Community First Bank, First Citizens National Bank, and Richardson Flower.

StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children – and adults – to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. A StoryWalk® is a book that has been taken apart and presented page by page on a trail, bike path, or in store windows to promote reading and exercise. StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. Miss Jill and the Upper Sandusky Community Library initially brought the concept to the community in July 2020 and have presented a new StoryWalk® each month.
